Vanessa is a single parent living in Section 8 housing. Her long-term dream for herself and her six-year-old daughter is for them to have a home of their own. Vanessa has saved money and holds a steady job, but with a low income and barriers to affordability in the area she found her dream of being a homeowner nearly impossible. Vanessa found out that she qualified for the Habitat program through classes at DevNW (formerly NEDCO). After being accepted into the Habitat Homeownership Program, she is already beginning her sweat equity hours and is looking forward to seeing her dream for her and her daughter become a reality.
“I just want my daughter to know that anything is possible if you are dedicated. This will be a lot of work—volunteering and working full time—but the end result will be worth it.” – Vanessa
