Student of Harpignies, Tillier and Benjamin Constant. Known for landscapes with a sombre atmosphere. He also produced genre paintings, still lifes and portraits. His watercolors are generally freer in style.He also painted various Parisian monuments, such as Notre-Dame de Paris and the Tuileries Palace.He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1877 to 1912.
